Change default download location permanently

Hi there.

If I mark Desktop in Save files to, after I close firefox, wen I open it again, the default download location is always /winpenpack/downloads.

I know that this can be changed in x-Firefox.ini but I tried many options and never got it.
Can someone help me?

Solution 1

Open X-Firefox.ini with a text editor and, at line 88, deactivate this part by inserting a ; before each line:
;(download directory) ;browser.download.lastDir=$Download$|\\" ;browser.download.dir=$Download$|\\" ;browser.download.folderList=2

Now you can choose another directory.
Solution 2 (only if you choose always the desktop):

Replace the previous part with:
;(download directory) browser.download.lastDir=@DesktopDir@|\\" browser.download.dir=@DesktopDir@|\\" browser.download.folderList=2

Files will be saved in the desktop.
