Hi again,3 things I'd really love to see are:1) being able to set file associations for VLC media player, like it is e.g. for 7-zip2) 7-zip should be able to integrate itself into the context menu (like the version of portableapps.com is able to)3) please offer the latest beta versions (9.xx) instead or at least aside the "stable" version (4.xx), because the 9.xx versions are much faster and got great new featuresit would be great to see these changes coming up in the near future.

Hi gibdemaffen,about the third point there is a specific note for the compatibility of X-7Zip launcher with the Beta version here, but (I'm sorry ) is in italian...Fast translation: the actual launcher works fine with the beta version, I've tested with the 9.13 release (not yet with new 9.14).Since now we didn't release X-7Zip beta 'cause it was not really stable, but the latest versions seems to work fine, so I think that is time to release the "X-7Zip Beta Version".Stay tuned!

thanks =) works great - no problems so far with this certain version. however there is one flaw that all portable versions of 7zip have in common: a problem with the context menu.as you see here I did not tick all options to be available in the context menu (http://img210.imageshack.us/i/080620101816053.png/)but still also the unticked options appear in the context menu (http://img405.imageshack.us/i/080620101816054.png/) is there a way to solve that problem coming from the portable point of view, or is this a flaw by nature of design (regarding the 7z.dll)?Danix ha scritto ...I think it's better to set portable file associations with X-Cafe -Link- having to deal with other folder structures etc. or not using the wppmenu makes thing more difficult if you need to rely on x-cafe. being able to simply set associations via vlc itself would be much easier in most cases and make the WPP version of vlc so much better compared to any other portable version.

@gibdemaffen, try this version: X-7Zip 9.14 beta [rev8].The software is the same, but here I put the settings to activate automatically the context menu at the first run, without the need to select the specific option.To be honest, I don't like it at all, 'cause in this way you cannot deactivate the functionality (it will be reactivate at the next run).

zandet2 ha scritto ...The software is the same, but here I put the settings to activate automatically the context menu at the first run, without the need to select the specific option.Sincerely, I had left the option expressly to the user's freedom.. Why block the option if everyone can decide whether to activate it or not? The result is the same. Among other things, both the rev_7 and the rev_8 have trouble with context menu if you move the program:I think because the 7-zip.dll is in use:I have tested in a Virtual Machine and I had not troubles moving the program.. I don't understand.. Test needed.zandet2, about the changes between the rev_ 7 and rev_8, I think it is sufficient to add only:
[WriteToReg=$Home$\$AppName$\$AppName$_3.reg]MainKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{23170F69-40C1-278A-1000-000100020000}InprocServer32|@="$ExeDir$\7-zip.dll"|\\
In this way: we'll fix a rev_7 bug (moving the program the context menu option is not immediately available but you must restart the program); we'll not block the option, leaving it to the user's freedom. X-7Zip_9.14-beta_rev9P.S.: zandet2, probably it would have been better to leave the stable X-7Zip version in the download section and release in the "Beta releases" forum section these beta releases, that (as we have seen) must be well tested. As we have always done (at least lately) .. But now maybe it is too later..

Danix, you are right (as usual), but...since our users does not consider a lot (or at all) the "beta" section of the forum, to release this version of X-7Zip I prefer this way, following the example of X-GnuCash.

Sorry, forgot this topic.....Yes, I've tested, and there is a problem:once selected the context menu, is impossible to deactivate it (maybe the same problem of gibdemaffen -Link- ).This happens because when the context menu are activated, the settings are written on the registry, and the x-launcher export them in 7zip_xx.reg files when X-7Zip is closed. In a successive execution, if the context menu are deselected the settings are removed from the registry, but since there is nothing to export the launcher does not delete the correspondent old values from the 7zip_xx.reg files.So, the bug is not in the .ini settings, but in the launcher itself.
