Sorry about the Off Topic entry so I have added a thread for people who would otherwise miss this. Opera has the best malware immunity going at the moment since Firefox has become a target.

I have been using X-Opera since the false positive virus problem in Operausb. Even though it wasn't a virus if virus software quarantines it and kills your program it should be fixed, particularly since the fix is just to upx the operausb exe file. X-Opera is better anyway except that any widgets used are not portable. I have been looking at the problem but have found no solution yet. The X-Opera launcher looks to be doing everything right so the answer is eluding me.

An amazingly fast response from Danix follows.

Now widgets are portable

Add this code to X-Opera.ini

[StringReplace=$ExeDir$\profile\widgets\widgets.dat]
"preserve">|widgets=$ExeDir$\profile\

The spellcheck modification for aspell does not work with Opera 9.5 beta 2, not that it should necessarily, I just wanted to let you know.

Did you try with the 9.27 version?
The spellcheck with aspell works?

Yes, it works great. I posted that in the Opera Virus thread but I should put it here also since it is more on topic.

Changing line 107 in X-Opera.ini preserves the skin.

Old line: Button Set|\skin==$ExeDir$
New line: Button Set|\skin==$ExeDir$\profile\

Yes, this happens when you download and set other skins, because they go to the profile folder.
But if you select one of default skins (included in X-Opera\Bin\Opera\skin)?

Which is the best option to set?

If the skin folder in profile is empty or missing it drops to the default skin. Not a perfect solution but it allows for a bit of customization.

I think this solution is valid for both options:

[StringReplace=$ExeDir$\profile\opera6.ini]
Button Set|\Opera\==$Bin$
