Tribler won't start (again)

There may be several reasons for that. Please check that the install directory you select is writable (e.g. on Windows you need to be Computer Administrator to write to C:\Program Files). If your username contains special characters, please check this bugreport #304 (the NSIS installer software we use can't handle that). Tribler itself can handle them, starting with version 5.1 (we hope).

If Tribler fails to restart, you have stumbled upon a bug, unfortunately. To get things working again, you should delete some files from the .Tribler directory:

For Windows:

C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\.Tribler

where "User" should be replaced by your own user name. To locate this directory, you may have to enable "Show hidden files and folders" in the "Tools / Folder Options / View" menu of the Windows explorer.
