[DocumentTypes]
Executables=*.exe
Text=*.TXT;*.DOC?;*.ODT;*.SXW;*.RTF;*.SDW;*.HTM?;*.PDF
Sheets=*.XLS;*.XLC;*.XLM;*.XLW;*.XLT; *.ODS;*.OTS;*.SXC;*.STC
Presentations=*.ODP;*.OTP;*.SXI;*.STI; *.PPT;*.PPS;*.PPTM;*.PPTX
AllFiles=*.*

ma anche definibili dall’utente

[CustomDocumentTypes]
The Guide=*.gde
Images=*.bmp;*.jpg;*.gif;*.png

Innanzi tutto "Esegui come Admin su sistemi superiori a XP".

[Subst Option]
SubstAlsoAsAdmin=Yes
LeaveDrivesOnExit=Yes

[Subst Drives]
S=$DRIVE\AreaSW\
J=$DRIVE\Virtual_Units\Folders\DiscoDiJazz\JazzMicroByt\
W=$DRIVE\Virtual_Units\Folders\wppDevelops\
Y=$DRIVE\Virtual_Units\Folders\wppDevelops\WorkingDirectory\develop\winPenPackNet\winPenPackNet\bin\Release\

Buon test!

After months of development, the winPenPack team is proud to introduce a revolutionary new version of winPenPack’s menu.

The main improvement on the new menu is that it was written in the Microsoft .NET framework.

This has been a very troubled, doubt-filled decision to make, as it meant that we had to break away from older MS Operating Systems (Windows 98, ME and W2K) on which the new winPenPack will no longer be supported (the new menu may work on the older O.S. if .NET framework is installed).

On the other hand, we had to take into account the increasing demand for a new-generation menu that could be run on the latest versions of Windows operating systems (mainly MS Vista and Seven). The decision to use .NET framework, which is installed by default on MS Vista and Seven (but even on most PCs running Windows XP), means that the user will be using the most recent and up-to-date tools and at the same time that he will be able to use them on almost any computer.

The menu has been completely rewritten and optimized; some lesser-used features have been removed, some have been added on strong user demand, and others were devised during the menu development process and are therefore brand-new innovations.

Basic operations (such as running the menu, starting a program from the menu, etc.) have been purposely left unchanged in order to avoid any initial confusion. The only notable difference of the fact that you are running something completely new will be the the faster execution: even for the most "crowded" suites, the new menu loads much faster than the old one.

The most attractive improvements are therefore under-the-hood improvements. All you have to do is open the configuration window and try to modify/add programs and you will find yourself in a much richer operating environment.

The first thing you will notice is that in the "List" tab, links, folders and programs are already associated with predefined icons – no need, therefore, to assign them new ones (previously this option only applied to programs, not links and folders). Secondly when moving a program within the list through the drag-and-drop method, you will notice that you are no longer allowed to change a program’s position within a same category; this is due to the fact that many users encountered difficulties in finding the programs’ exact root location. The drag-and-drop option has therefore been dismissed and another one based on keyboard shortcuts has been adopted instead: ALT-U, move up on the same level, ALT-D, move down on the same level, ALT-L, move up one level). This will require a little getting used to, but once the method is assimilated the user will have greater freedom on re-arranging different elements within the menu.

The most remarkable enhancement, however, is probably the new context menu, which has been improved with many new features:

The current version is "smarter": the menu items are automatically enabled or disabled depending on which element you are clicking on; also, an "expand/collapse" feature has been added, similar to the one present in all Window versions (XP onwards) and very popular among the users, which enables you to hide lesser-used menu items from the list.

The "Install X-Software" option has been changed to "Install Software", since it is now possible to install any kind of portable software (not just X-programs) simply by selecting their executable file.

A new "Export Software" option has been introduced, which enables the user to create a .zip file that includes all files used by a program, so that they can be installed on a new winPenPack as a single bundle. This is a particularly useful resource: for instance, if you want to make a copy of a program for a friend who isn’t familiar with configuration options, or if you need to backup your files/settings before installing a new version of wPP, this is the perfect solution.

A new "Expert" menu has been added (it can be activated from the main menu’s advanced options), which enables the user to make interesting changes:

- modify the .INI file of a selected X-Software
- modify the .LOG file of a selected X-Software
- activate/deactivate LOG modality of the ini (thisi s quite useful for the debug)
- direct access to the User, Bin and Documents folders of a selected X-Software

Removal of a selected program from the menu: a new menu window will appear, showing all the folders related to the selected program, and in the case of an X-Software program, the User, Bin, Lib and Documents folders will appear; form there the user can easily choose which files he wishes to remove/delete (especially in the \Lib sections); finally, the user will be able to choose whether he wants to save a backup of the selcted files before deletion.

"Open Program Folder" will now open the original folder where a program is placed (\Bin\Program), X-Softwares included. This is a notable improvement from the old menu, which opened X-Drive for all X-Software, whereas the new menu automatically reads the .ini file and opens the correct folder \Bin\Program.

Among other interesting novelties there is the new program wPP Version List (also available in our download section); furthermore, the "Search" tab now shows two new columns, Version and Revision: for example, if the user types "X-" in the search tab, a list will open showing all X-Softwares currently installed on the wPP menu, each item with its version and revision. A new context menu has been added, which enables the user to log on the official wPP website, search and obtain fast results and credits. ‘Version’ and ‘Revision’ are not enabled for non-X-Software (at the moment), but the user can use the menu options for that, as they are available on the context menu of the configuration window. Double-clicking on one of the programs in the search results will open said program. This will be particularly useful in the future, as we are trying to develop new ways to verify program versions and update programs directly from the menu.

(*) In the future, even a natively portable software/programs - those for which the "version and revision" options as well as the link to their original website have already been modified - will have an ini file, which will be editable thanks to the "Expert Mode" version of wPP

Another important feature on the tab (and this is especially important for the user owning a crowded wPP suite) is the Automatic Search option (basically the user can search without clicking on the "Search" button): the feature can easily be enabled from the menu options after typing in a certain number of characters (excellent results can be obtained with just two characters).

It is now possible to add other types of files to the menu besides programs (Office documents, images, audio files, etc.), through a specific section of the menu configuration (winPenPack.ini):

[DocumentTypes]
Executables=*.exe
Text=*.TXT;*.DOC?;*.ODT;*.SXW;*.RTF;*.SDW;*.HTM?;*.PDF
Sheets=*.XLS;*.XLC;*.XLM;*.XLW;*.XLT; *.ODS;*.OTS;*.SXC;*.STC
Presentations=*.ODP;*.OTP;*.SXI;*.STI; *.PPT;*.PPS;*.PPTM;*.PPTX
AllFiles=*.*

which can also be typed in by the user:

[CustomDocumentTypes]
The Guide=*.gde
Images=*.bmp;*.jpg;*.gif;*.png

Thanks to this new feature it is now possibile to manage frequently used files directly from the menu, although the most revolutionary feature of all is probably "Cafe". Cafe (or X-Cafe, as is called the portable version) can be used to associate file extensions to specific (portable) programs in the various wPP suites: double-clicking on a file will open with a wPP program rather than the Windows preset one.

The new menu works in much the same way: in the program menu of each program a new tab has been added, labeled "File association", which allows the user to set associations between filename extensions and wPP-executable files, or to import them straight from X-Cafe. Interestingly enough, this feature does not require X-Cafe’s activation. In fact, once the menu is configured X-Cafe becomes. These file extension associations will work on the whole host-PC: the user can open any file in a wPP program simply by double-clicking on the file, even from the File Manager (the only condition is that wPP must be running on the host PC).

With the new menu it’s possible to manage internet protocols (quindi mailto, http, https, ftp) directly from winPenPack; for example, "->X-Thunderbird; http/https->X-Firefox; ftp->X-FileZilla" simply by activating the specific options on the brand new "Protocols" tab.

The link to the winPenPack website can be edited directly from the menu, so that the user can choose to be linked to the English or the Italian version of the site.

The new menu is much easier to navigate, and can be adapted to the individual user’s needs (for example, those who already know the language version of wPP they want to use can set the language right after installation).

There are also new interesting improvements concerning program properties.

First of all, "Execute as Admin on operating system versions higher than XP". When selected, this option will always open the program as Admin, thus eliminating the need to do it manually every time (it also works when the "automatic run" is enabled).
Secondly, we have definitely improved desktop program integration, coupling the old "Create a desktop shortcut when wPP Launcher is executed" with the new "Create a shortcut in the ‘Send to…’" which basically adds the program name to the ‘Send to’ list on the Windows context menu.
For example, when the option is enabled for X-Notepad++, the user can select any file in the File Manager folder, and then right-click on it in order to open the file in the editor that best suits his needs.
Furthermore, the tooltips section has been revised, improved and expanded. The tooltips will now be clearly visible even when arranged in two (or more) lines; moreover, they will be visible both in the configuration window of the menu and amongst search results.

In the options window an "Info" tab has been added, containing the "wPP website" and "currently installed version" items, which are extremely useful when managing wPP uupdates. These information data are automatically retrieve for all X-Softwares, but can also be updated for other types of programs.

Finally, a new feature resembling Virtual Subst has been added: it is now possible for wPP to automatically associate drive letter with specific file paths in the flash drive assignments (provided that the letters do not conflict with the host PC ones) whenever the USB flash drive is connected to the host computer. This is particularly useful when the user needs to run files that have a very long file paths; take a look at how this new feature works:

[Subst Option]
SubstAlsoAsAdmin=Yes
LeaveDrivesOnExit=Yes

[Subst Drives]
S=$DRIVE\AreaSW\
J=$DRIVE\Virtual_Units\Folders\DiscoDiJazz\JazzMicroByt\
W=$DRIVE\Virtual_Units\Folders\wppDevelops\
Y=$DRIVE\Virtual_Units\Folders\wppDevelops\WorkingDirectory\develop\winPenPackNet\winPenPackNet\bin\Release\

Further minor improvements concerning the layout and menu navigation are left for the user to find on his day to day use: have fun trying out our new winPenPack Menu!

WOW! è a dir nulla. Veramente veramente interessante e un lavoro enorme!
Vado subito a prelevare e provare...

GRAZIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

---EDIT---
