Procedura per segnalare un software portatile
(ultima revisione: 05.11.2010)

Licenza: Freeware, Freeware for non commercial use, GNU General Public License, etc..

    Dimensione File:
    Nome autore:

Portable software submission procedure
(last revision: 05.11.2010)

  1. Which software to report: winPenPack interest, in the viewpoint of development and diffusion of free portable software, aims primarily open source software (GPL, LGPL, MPL, MIT, etc..), and, in particular cases, acts also on Freeware programs (to exclusive discretion of development Team). For this reason and to facilitate winPenPack evolution, it is strongly recommended reporting programs released under these licenses. You can find one of the most important open source resources on SourceForge.net.

  2. Search first: before submitting a new portable software announcement, a site search must be performed to check if the announcement has been already given or if the software has been already added to our database.

  3. Portability check: after search, programs must be tested with specific tools, as X-Regshot (read tutorial). Portable programs should not write settings in user folders, in Windows registry or into other directories except its own folder. Must support relative paths and should not write absolute paths in configuration files. They must also maintain the settings in the transition from one drive to another, possibly retaining the recent files, and open/save files always in the same folder. Given the complexity of check, in doubt and lack of expertise in this field, it is preferable to signal the software in "Portabilization requests" forum section.

  4. Programs that require .Net Framework: it is allowed to signal .Net Framework based programs in Software submission section if they are portable and on condition that the .Net Framework version required is clearly specified.

  5. Programs that require Java: it is NOT allowed to signal Java based programs in "Software submission", they must be reported in "Portabilization requests".

  6. Announcement:: it must take place in "Software submission" forum section, by opening a new thread for each program and using the following scheme:

    Post subject:

[Category] Software name (WITHOUT software version)

    Post body:

Software name: software name and software version in bold
Direct Link to download: direct link
File size: expressed also in byte, i.e. 12,59 Mb= 13200283 byte
    Author name: program author
Author website: URL of web site author
Description: a short description in English or in Italian, possibly with the indication of the source of information. Note: it is mandatory to report the source of information when the description is not an original writing; when it is copied from the website of the software author, it is enough to specify "(description from software website)".
Portable tips how-to: modality of program extraction and/or portabilization
Test result: result of test with attached regshot log
    Version: program version
License: Freeware, Freeware for non commercial use, GNU General Public License, etc..
    Screenshot: optional, max-width: 500 pixel

Scheme to be copied and completed compiling the relative fields:

    Software name:
    Direct Link to download:
    File size:
    Author name:
    Author website:
    Description:
    Portable tips how-to:
    Test result:
    Version:
    License:
    Screenshot:

Dimensione File:
Nome autore:
eMail autore:
Sito Web Autore:
Descrizione:
Portable tips how-to:
Test effettuato:
Versione:
Licenza:
Screenshot:

I programmi che contengono schemi incompleti, saranno spostati d'ufficio in "NON portabilizzabili".
Invito pertanto a correggere eventuali schede, in particolar modo le ultime.
